2024 Voting

Voting for awards occurs only in the Winter season and only for age groups 11U and older.

How does it work?

Best & Fairest/Runners Up Best & Fairest
Each game day, each coach and scorer will allocate 2 votes each for the Best & Fairest and 1 vote each for the Runners Up Best & Fairest.

Voting Criteria

The Best & Fairest votes are to be based on the following criteria:

  • Playing contribution to the team (i.e a ‘for the team’ and not an individual playing contributor to the team), a good team player

  • A player that regularly attends training and weekly games

  • A player that shows keen interest in advancing their Netball skills

  • Shows good sportsmanship by accepting umpires decisions at weekly games and coaches decision in position placements each week

Coaches Award

This will be a decision the coach will make at the end of the season.

The Coaches Award is to be based on the following criteria:

  • Improvement in playing performance

  • Willingness to listen and learn at training and games

  • General team behaviour (i.e relating to others in the team, coach and officials)

  • A player that regularly attends training and weekly games

  • A player that shows keen interest in advancing their Netball skills

  • Shows good sportsmanship by accepting umpires decisions at weekly games and coaches decision in position placements each week

Awards

At presentation night, at the end of the season, the player with the most votes will be awarded the Best & Fairest, the player with the second most votes will be awarded the Runners Up Best & Fairest. If there is a tie on the Best & Fairest and Runners Up Best & Fairest the Club will call on the votes from the Association to determine the winner. If this is unobtainable, a count back on the player who received the most Best & Fairest votes will be determined the winner of the Best & Fairest.

The Coaches Award will be presented to the player the coach chooses based on the relevant criteria above.

Scorers

At the start of the season, coaches develop a scoring roster with the intention to give every player's family a chance to score. This roster (and subsequent changes to it) needs to be submitted to the committee. As the scorer will also be voting during this game, it is important that families who are unable to score on their designated day, inform the coach so that they can swap them for another day.

  • At the end of the game, Scorers need to submit their votes to the coach electronically (email/message/messenger) so that they can then submit their own votes as well as the scorer's votes online.

  • They will need to attach a screenshot of the scorer's votes, which should include the name of the scorer as well as the x2 players to receive 2 and 1 vote respectively.

  • Coaches only have a short time frame to submit these votes so please send this message within a reasonable time frame (no longer than 24 hrs is appreciated).
